Before the Baby

Well it's about time I caught up on here!  And since it's been over a month and I have a newborn, I'm going to have to rely solely on the pictures to remember what happened before Ellyria arrived!  But let's be honest, pictures are the best part of this blog!  My mom arrived on Thursday August 27, and these are the adventures that ensued prior to Elly being born.  Charlie was so excited the morning Grandma was coming!  We went and waited outside and then when they pulled in he went up to her right away, but then kind of pulled back as if to say "you're a real person? and not just on FaceTime?" before giving her a hug!  They were good buddies after that and spent a a lot of time together after that!

Charlie loves licking the beaters!  Whenever we use them he always thinks its whipped cream and asks "taste? taste?"

The Sunday before Elly was born - super kankles!

Last family picture before baby makes 4

39 Weeks!  And at this point I was already 4cm dilated (and had been for a few days!)

Once again my pictures loaded out of order, but i'm too lazy to switch them around!  This was at the Markets the Saturday after my mom got here.  I love going to the markets and my mom was pretty impressed too!

We decided to make it a really long day and drive out to Costco after the markets.  My mom is obsessed with Costco and so she was really excited to go to one here!  Too bad it's so far away from our house otherwise we would totally get a membership! (or maybe its a good thing?!?!)

Sushi!  Ipswich has the best sushi - big rolls!  Not like the little small ones back home...

I made this car mat for Charlie's cars.  It has all the places we like to go here in Ipswich on it!  Starting top left - the Train Museum, the grocery store, the Nature Centre, our house, the library, the garage for the cars (and the petrol station above), Queens Park and the Church.  I had been working really hard to get it done before the baby came!  Tuesday night I finished and said "Ok I finished the car mat! Now the baby can come!"  Little did I know that night....

Next post - introducing baby Cahoon #2!

Catching Up While I Still Have The Time!

Well no baby yet!  I am still 11 days away from my due date, but it's hard work waiting! I'm not a fan - I actually quite liked how Charlie surprised me so much in coming so early!  None of this dreaded waiting till the end stuff...  We've just been trying to keep busy and Charlie entertained (even though I'm no fun these days - it's really hard to crawl on the floor and jump around with a big belly!!!)  Well I think I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking here...
Where are Charlies arms?

Charlie's Ta-Da after a somersault!

I realize now this picture is upside-down but its a picture of the car mat I'm making Charlie!  It will be like a travel thing that folds up and it will have spots for 5 cars in it.  It has all the places here in Ipswich that we like to go like the zoo, park, museum etc.  I've done the park and the museum so far... so much to do so little time!
Flying Fox at Queens Park with daddy!

Last Saturday we went to the Handmade Expo, but there wasn't anything cute (in my opinion!)  We let Charlie go on the bouncy house (and they even let him go for only $2 instead of $4 because he was so cute - jokes they said it was because he was so little)  We had to drag him away kicking and screaming, and he didn't calm down until we bought cotton candy which he was fascinated in watching them make (ok truth be told I was the one who wanted the cotton candy, it was just a happy bonus it distracted Charlie!)

37 weeks!

Charlie started off way back at the corner and was a little bit scared of all the noise!  But he slowly warmed up to the digger

We're getting closer!  Inch by inch...

And closer!  Actually around now Charlie realized that he had brought the wrong digger!  More of a front loader than a digger, so he made us go home so we could switch it for the right one!  The workers noticed too an said "look he has a digger now!" when we got back.  It was quite funny

Finally a close up!  The workers offered to let Charlie sit in the seat and the bucket so we could take some pictures, but Charlie was too scared! (the weird smile is him saying "cheese!")

The man whose driveway was getting redone told me I needed to get Charlie some dirt to dig in!  But we waited until Andrew got home so he could carry the buckets!

Playing with his diggers in his new dirt!  His new favourite pastime

Playing down in the dirt!  Charlie was thrilled to be in this bucket until he fell backwards and hit his head

At the train museum playgroup they have this little bridge - Charlie likes to lift himself up to show how strong he is! (and then he says "strong" and of course I confirm!)

So pleased with himself!

After playgroup on Friday Charlie was begging to see some diggers, so we drove around for a bit and found a construction site with heaps of diggers (dig digs), dump trucks (dumpty), steamrollers (he actually says that one really well!) but sadly no bulldozers (boulders)

We went to Big W the other night just for fun (Andrew wanted to play with Charlie in the toy section) and they had this  double basketball hoop set up!  Of course we had to play - Andrew beat me the first game, I destroyed him in the second game and we tied the third game! So we're both the best... jokes!  Charlie thought it was pretty entertaining and loved making some slam dunks!

I've made a few things lately, although not nearly as many things as I have intended!
Burp cloths and a bibdana
Lightweight sun cover for the carseat!

Decorating onsies is always fun!  I made myself a matching gold dot shirt...!

I have intentions to make many more headbands... this girl will be well accessorized!

38 Weeks!

Family/Maternity Pictures

Our very talented upstairs Nima took some family/maternity pictures for us!  Last time I was pregnant with Charlie we were going to get pictures taken the Friday after I finished work, but Charlie came (too early) on the Wednesday (1:11am to be exact!) so we missed out on maternity pictures and I always felt a little bit sad about it...  So I made sure to get some pictures this time!

We love them - THANKS NIMA!!
