Goodbye Canada and Hello (Again) Australia!

We had a few days after New Years before heading back over to Australia, so amongst all the packing we tried to do some fun things!  Andrew and I went to Banff for a night to get away from the kids (but we didn't do much, I barfed the morning we were leaving!!) We hiked to the lower falls of Johnsons Canyon and went skating up at Lake Louise, then drove home the scenic route through the mountains, up towards Jasper and then over to Rocky Mountain House.  We also had some really nice weather and got to get pulled around on the pond out at Andrew's parents.  Charlie wasn't too excited with it (he says he likes regular tobogganing better) but Elly really liked it (she rode with Anna so maybe felt more secure?)  We also made one last trip to the mall for cotton candy!  (Well that and to do some returns and shopping)

Saturday January 6 we headed to the airport to fly out!  We had a really long layover in Vancouver, but the kids did really well!  Right before boarding though Elly had diarrhea and we discovered that I didn't pack extra diapers.... oh dear!  Luckily one of the shops had diapers (at $3 each...)  so we bought a bunch for back ups on the plane (which we didn't even end up needing!)

The flight went ok, a flight that long is never fun, but we all managed to get a bit of sleep.  When getting our luggage we discovered that a bag was missing!  The lady said it should turn up in a day or two, but that wouldn't help us as we were going to be driving up the east coast and then over to Mt. Isa!  Good thing it wasn't a very important bag with stuff we needed right away.  (It ended up taking 13 days to get to us, but we got $300 from Air Canada for our troubles!)  We had our van dropped off  to us at the airport and then headed to Ipswich for a quick stop to grab some things that were in storage and visit Holly and her family.  It was actually so nice, the Teodos watched Charlie and Elly at Queens Park for a couple of hours so that Andrew and I could go through or stuff in storage and buy a few groceries etc.

Then we were off!  But that's for another post...

Skating at Lake Louise

You can't really tell, but this lake had the coolest fog over it!!
Yes I'm the best mom buying my kids cotton candy the size of their heads!
Don't worry we brushed teeth really well that night...
More Johnsons Canyon
This picture doesn't do it justice, but the sun coming through the trees was so pretty and when the snow fell off the branches it was so sparkly and magical!
Yes that big lump in the middle is me - going 'round the pond!  I didn't have enough ab muscles to sit up (thanks baby!)

Look its a grandpa horsey!
